SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISION

Criminal Investigations/Youth Division/Gang Tactical Unit

The Addison Police Department has a total of 15 employees within the Criminal Investigations Section. This section includes the following personnel:

  • Detective Commander
  • Detective Sergeant
  • Detective Secretary/Crime Analyst
  • Investigative Aide
  • Adult Investigators
  • Juvenile Investigators
  • School Liaison Officers
    • one who works at Addison Trail High School
    • one who works at Indian Trail Junior High School
  • Gang Tactical Suppression Unit
  • DuMEG, an Illinois State Police run drug apprehension unit
Detectives are given a case load for a variety of different incidents that stem from original reports taken from Addison Police Officers. These cases are disseminated to the proper Detective for follow-up.

Each Detective is given extensive training in the investigative field to ensure diligent work is provided to the victim(s) within the report and to provide for a safer community.

Detective Commander Joseph Maranowicz has been with the Addison Police Department since January 2000. He has an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. He served as a Patrolman and as a Detective within the Criminal Investigations Section. He was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant in June 2006. In May 2007, he was brought into the Criminal Investigations Section as Detective Sergeant, and in January 2010, he was promoted to Detective Commander. Detective Sergeant Maranowicz is a Juvenile Officer, Evidence Technician and an Arson Investigator.

Detective Sergeant Brian Goss has been with the Addison Police Department since 1997. He has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. His first assignment was in the Field Services Division as a Patrolman. He was then assigned to the Criminal Investigations Section in February of 2000. In May of 2008, he was promoted to Sergeant, and in February of 2010, he was reassigned back to the Criminal Investigations Section as Detective Sergeant.


Detective Sergeant Brian Goss

Filomena Lehman has been the Administrative Secretary for the Criminal Investigations/Youth Division/Gang Tactical Unit since 1996. She is a certified paralegal and has received training in crime analysis. Filomena provides a wide variety of secretarial support, as well as analysis support, to the Criminal Investigations/Youth Division/Gang Tactical Unit, as well as the Field Services Division. She also provides assistance to various personnel in the Police Department.

Filomena is the Recording Secretary for the Addison Police Commission and the Addison Police Pension Board. She is on the Employee Steering Committee and the DuPage Major Crimes Task Force and is currently a member of the Crime Analysts of Illinois Association.


Filomena Lehman

Part-Time Investigative Aide Timothy Gunn has been with the Addison Police Department since 2007. He is a retired police officer from the Downers Grove Police Department after 21 years of service. During those 21 years, Tim served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and a Patrol Division Lieutenant. He was also a Field Training Officer, Juvenile Officer, and Sniper on the SWAT team. He coordinated the DUI program for over six years and supervised special event details and emergency management for the Patrol Division, developing various procedures for the Patrol Division after September 11, 2001. Tim has a Bachelor of Science degree. He also completed the Staff and Command training for police administrators in 1999.
