Steve Ruggiero
Watch Commander

Commander Ruggiero joined the Addison Police Department in 1989, after serving six years on active duty as a Security Police Officer in the United States Air Force.

While assigned as a Patrolman, Commander Ruggiero served as an Evidence Technician, Field Training Officer, and Firearms Instructor.

After being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1998, he worked as a Patrol and Field Training supervisor and also became the Department's Range Master, responsible for all firearms related training. In 1999, he graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command. In 2006, he was selected to become the Crime Prevention Sergeant, a position held until 2008 when he was promoted to the rank of Watch Commander.

Commander Ruggiero also serves as a Rapid Response Instructor, AR-15 Rifle Instructor, Glock/AR-15 Armorer, O.C. Instructor, and Baton Instructor. In 2007, he earned a Master Firearms Instructor rating from the Police Training Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Commander Ruggiero is currently assigned to the Field Services Division.
