Sergeant Olson began his law enforcement career in 1990 after serving a Olson, Doug (3) - Copyfour-year active duty service enlistment as a Security Police Officer in the United States Air Force. He has an Associate's degree from the College of DuPage and a Bachelor's degree in Management from National Louis University. He also is a certified Crime Prevention Specialist and is trained in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles from the University of Louisville.

While a Patrolman, Sergeant Olson was assigned to the Field Services Division, the Crime Prevention Unit and the Planning, Research and Development Unit. He also has the following specialties: Juvenile Officer, Physical Fitness Instructor, I.P.M.B.A. Bike Patrol Officer, CALEA Manager, and D.A.R.E. Instructor.

He was promoted to Sergeant in 2007.

Sergeant Olson is currently assigned as the Day Shift supervisor in the Field Services Division. In addition, he supervises, the Color/Honor Guard Unit and the Department's Physical Fitness Program.
