Roy Selvik
Chief of Police

Chief Selvik started his law enforcement career withSelvik, Roy (2) - Copy (2) the Addison Police Department in 2003 working as a Patrolman. He was assigned to the Investigations Section in 2006 as a School Resource Officer and then as a Detective in 2008. In 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was then assigned as the Detective Sergeant in May of 2014. In September of 2014, he was promoted to Detective Commander; and on June 15, 2020, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Support Services. On December 18, 2023, he was appointed Chief of Police by the Village Board.

Chief Selvik has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology from Elmhurst College and a Master's of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University. Chief Selvik is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 283. He is trained as an Evidence Technician, Juvenile Officer and Arson Investigator. He is formerly a member of the DuPage Major Crimes Task Force and worked as a Class Supervisor for the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy. Chief Selvik graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command in 2015 and is a member of the DuPage County Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT). He is certified through Force Science Institute and is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police, Class 72. He has served the Department as a Master Firearms Instructor, Rifle Instructor, Ballistic Shield Instructor and Less Lethal Instructor and is the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Village of Addison.

Chief Selvik has received numerous awards and commendations during his time with the Addison Police Department and working with the Criminal Investigations Section.
